Improper CPR

Improper CPR by a licensed professional can be serious and often times fatal.  In a drowning accident, it is vital to  have proper CPR training and actions to save the person involved.

Broken ribs and sternum are common injuries when CPR is applied.  These injuries are more common with children, elderly and women.  When too much pressure is continually applied, broken ribs can cause punctures in the lungs, liver or heart.  This is a serious injury that can lead to death.  This is most commonly seen when CPR is done incorrectly with hands positioned in the incorrect place.
